How we cut it.
Brief, changes, numbers.
The brief
Ruth films every renovation from three angles and sends us the whole weekend. The old edits were in order, which put the best minute at the very end.
What we changed
We start with a few seconds of the finished room, then go back. Repeating work is cut in sync across the frame, so four walls take ten seconds, and the reveal is a before-and-after on one slider.
What happened
Watch time on renovation videos went up 49%, and the reveal at 18:40 is replayed more than any other moment on the channel.
They found the reveal in my footage before I'd finished painting.
